Team Charter

A team charter is a document that is an end-result of the initiating phase and a required input for the charting phase. When approved by the WMCT, the team charter authorizes a Team Leader to engage the organization to work on the desired outcomes of the team.

The team charter captures the broad scope, objectives, and strategic fit for the proposed team. It also forms the foundation for planning all of the activities of the team.

Invariably during the life of a team, there may be certain situations that might arise where the activities of the team do not comply with the charter or are considered "out of scope." If that occurs, the Team Leader should meet with their WMCT Advocate to discuss the situation. The result of that discussion may be a revision to the scope of the team to become more aligned with the team charter and its intent or a change to the existing team charter. At the discretion of the WMCT Advocate, any significant change to the team charter may need to be reviewed and authorized by the WMCT.
