3.0 Activities


Write Copy (10)

The Team Leader or the Editor discusses the writing assignment with the Contributor. The Contributor develops the copy, reviewing and editing as necessary. Before any copy can be written, it may be necessary to translate copy from an earlier step or product.

Editorial Review (20)

Every resource undergoes one or more editorial reviews. The WMCT Advocate and Team Leader determine the number and type of reviews. The Editor distributes the document to appointed reviewers and collects their comments. The Team Leader reviews (optionally with the WMCT Advocate) the comments so that they can determine final edits.

Tasks
  1. The WMCT Advocate, Team Leader, and Editor determine the number of and types of editorial reviews, such as a theological review or cultural review.
  2. The Editor produces a hard copy or electronic copy of the content and sends the copy to the reviewers.
  3. The reviewers review the material and return their edits or suggestions to the Editor.
  4. The Editor, Team Leader, and WMCT Advocate review the comments and determine what final edits need to be made.

Revise Copy (30)

Once all of the reviews are complete, the Editor requests the Contributor to make final revisions. The final changes are reviewed by the Editor before the copy undergoes copy editing.

  1. The Editor shares the needed changes to the Contributor.
  2. The Contributor makes the changes, editing and reviewing the material.
  3. The Editor reviews the changes made by the Contributor.

Edit Copy (40)

The Editor sends a physical copy or electronic copy of the text to a Copy Editor for editing. The Copy Editor makes grammatical and style changes and shares the proposed text with the Editor for review. The Copy Editor and Editor may repeat the steps for reviewing and modifying the text until the Editor is satisfied with the final copy.

  1. Send hard copy or electronic copy to Copy Editor.
  2. Make edits to the copy.
  3. Share changes with Editor.
  4. Proofreader validates the final changes made by the Editor or Copy Editor.
  5. Repeat these steps as necessary to get a final revised copy.

Translate Copy (50)

Some resources are developed in a primary language (such as English) and then translated and edited in other languages (such as Spanish and French). In these situations, it is necessary for the text to be translated into another language.

Tasks
  1. Send hard copy or electronic copy to Translator.
  2. Translate copy from current language (such as English) to a target language (such as Spanish).
  3. Forward the translated copy (in this case Spanish) to a Language Coordinator for editing.
